Mike Burke was raised in Chilliwack and has been involved in the mineral exploration industry since 1983, when he first worked in Yukon and Northern British Columbia as a geological assistant for Canamax Resources exploring for gold, tungsten and base metals. While completing his B.Sc at the University of British Columbia he returned each summer with Canamax and was involved in the discovery of two Yukon mines, the Ketza River Gold Mine and the Sa Dena Hes Zn-Pb-Ag Mine. Upon completing his B.Sc. in 1987 Mike moved to Yukon to become the mine geologist at the Ketza River Gold Mine which operated from 1987 to 1990. Mike joined the staff of the Exploration and Geological Services Division of the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs in 1991. In 1994 and began his role as Staff Geologist.  In 2003 control of minerals, lands and water was devolved from the Federal Government to the Government of Yukon and the Yukon Geological Survey was created where he was the Head of the Mineral Services Division.   After his 20 year career in government Mike has returned to his industry roots when he joined Golden Predator Corp. in February, 2011 as their Chief Geologist based in Whitehorse, Yukon.
