AME BC History
From humble but determined beginnings, the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia (AME BC) has grown to be one of the most respected mining organizations in North America. Along the way it has strived to advance the interests of all those involved in the mining industry. And by all accounts it has succeeded at that goal.
In the following web pages, we trace the evolution of AME BC from its start in 1912, when it had to go hat in hand to government to obtain operating capital, to the respected position it occupies today. Credit is extended to the late Thomas Elliott who served as the Chamber’s manager from 1955 to 1975 and who compiled the history up to 1986 and to Dave Barr, who contributed information from 1987 through 2004.
