She brings over 20 years of policy & regulatory, strategic planning, community and Aboriginal relations, and corporate social responsibility experience across a range of sectors. She has managed several initiatives involving diverse stakeholders for major corporations and non-profits, which has provided her with a solid understanding of the forces shaping best practices in policy development and implementation. Before joining AME BC, Laureen was Principal, Arbutus Consulting, where she provided consulting services to organizations such as BC Ferry Services, Vancouver Port Authority, Terrane Metals Corp, Minerva Foundation for BC Women, BC Transmission Corporation, and Terasen Gas/Kinder Morgan. She has taught organizational development and strategic planning courses for BCIT, and is author of Making the Grade: A Guide to Success in Corporate Aboriginal Partnerships. Prior to consulting, Laureen successfully led a professional staff to assist in the establishment of Spectra Energy (formerly Duke Energy) as an innovative leader in focused community engagement initiatives. Laureen is responsible for developing and advancing industry policies related to corporate social responsibility, Aboriginal and community engagement, land use planning, environmental assessment as well as other important issues facing the mineral exploration sector. She actively furthers the interests of AME BC members by representing them on government / industry committees, undertaking joint industry actions on issues of common concern and advancing knowledge and understanding of responsible exploration and the social and economic benefits of mineral exploration and mining in BC. Laureen is also responsible for AME BC staff and operations. Laureen holds a Masters degree in Public Policy with a specialization in Business Administration and a certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility from Boston College. Laureen is an active volunteer in several community and industry organizations. She Chairs the Board of the BC Aboriginal Mine Training Association, is on the Muskwa-Kechika Management Advisory Board and is on the Combining our Strength Council responsible for Aboriginal leadership programs of Minerva Foundation for BC Women. |
