AME BC and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) are conducting the 7th annual Canadian Mineral Exploration Health & Safety Survey for exploration work conducted in 2011. We are seeking your input to help plan safety programs and work toward a goal of zero fatalities and incidents with lost time.
We respectfully request that all organizations active in mineral exploration in Canada take the estimated 5 to 10 minutes to complete the confidential questionnaire.
The information provided by completing this survey enables AME BC and the PDAC to compile a comprehensive annual safety report which is provided to the public. This report provides facts and figures about the causes of incidents, the nature of the injuries, trends, and also safety statistics by province. It also acknowledges companies for the Safe Day Everyday Award – companies who have operated without a lost workday.
In addition, AME BC and the PDAC create guidelines that can be adapted by mineral explorations companies in order to reduce lost-time incidents. Companies that have health and safety programs are more likely to help industry achieve zero fatalities and lowered lost time accidents targets. The information provided by survey participants helps the AME BC Health and Safety Committee to customize awareness workshops and communications initiatives to reflect current industry hazards.

About the Survey
The survey aims to capture all work carried out by mineral exploration companies, mining companies with exploration projects, government geological surveys, and diamond drilling companies in Canada.
The survey is strictly confidential and will be solely used by AME BC and the PDAC to develop our sixth annual Canadian Mineral Exploration Health & Safety Report (view the 2009 report). Companies who report no lost workdays will be eligible for the Safe Day Everyday Award. However, no individual company information will accompany incident reports.
For the fifth year, AME BC and PDAC have retained Greenfield Services Inc. to invite all companies active in mineral exploration in Canada by telephone to participate in the survey and ask questions regarding companies’ safety programs.
Thank you again for completing the survey, and have a safe day, everyday during the 2011 field season.
