Mountain Pine Beetle Affected Area Tax Credit

Effective for eligible expenses incurred after February 20, 2007, mineral exploration in prescribed Mountain Pine Beetle affected areas is eligible for an enhanced tax credit rate of 30%. The tax credit is available to eligible individuals, corporations and partnerships conducting grassroots mining exploration in BC. The expiry date for the enhanced tax credit rate will be December 31, 2016. Click here for a map of the eligible area.

The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources has added the eligible area to Mineral Titles Online. The map here shows how the enhanced tax credit area looks a map of the way this will look on Mineral Titles Online to clients. The brownish color is the portion of the mountain pine beetle salvage area. To view the Mountain Pine Beetle affected area on Mineral Titles Online, go to www.mtonline.gov.bc.ca/.

Scroll down, click on Mineral map or Placer map; select the zoom tool from the icon menu bar (plus sign magnifying glass); zoom to an area in the eastern portion of the province (scale needs to be magnified to more than 1:500,000); select LAYERS from the top blue menu bar; open up the administrative boundaries folder; and click refresh map on the top blue menu bar.
