December 1, 2010 - Minerva Celebrates Barbara Caelles
On December 1st the Minerva Foundation for BC Women (“Minerva”) will host is the fifth year of Women In, Minerva’s annual luncheon to celebrate and honour three women for their excellence in leadership and philanthropy in our industry: Our very own Barbara Caelles, who started WIM Vancouver, awarded for philanthropy and volunteerism, Lyn Anglin, President and CEO of Geoscience BC, for community leadership and excellence in natural resources, and Eira Thomas, Stornoway Diamonds, for leadership in diamond exploration and development industry and for her commitment to advancing the industry in Canada.

December 1, 2010  - WIM Martini Party
WIM celebrated the Season with other WIM members at the annual Martini Party! This was a very special celebration as it will followed the Minerva awards luncheon where our very own Barbara Caelles, who started WIM Vancouver, will be receiving an award for philanthropy and volunteerism in natural resources.

November 10, 2010 - Brown Bag Lunch
MABC, an important industry association, was explained by Claire Thomson. What MABC does, their mandate, how they can help you and the resources they offer.

October 20 - 22, 2010 - 8th Annual Silver Summit - Women In Mining Education Foundation
Women In Mining Education Foundation were in Spokane, WA for the 8th Annual Silver Summit on October 20th -22nd at the Hotel Davenport for our second year.

October 14, 2010 - Brown Bag Lunch
The first speaker of this season “Let’s get to know each other”, Lyn Anglin introduced us to Geoscience BC. This was an interesting and informative presentation about who they, and what they do, the publications and data available, as well as their initiatives, and projects they undertake.

October 3, 2010 - National Women in Mining Run for the Cure - Vancouver
Our National Women in Mining Team participated in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure to assist in creating a future without breast cancer.

September 9, 2010 - Brown Bag Lunch - Let's get to know each other!
Place: Fasken Martineau, 2900 - 550 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC, V6C 0A3
This was our first event after our traditional summer break. We networked, regrouped and announced a few important events.

June 11, 2010 Networking lunch hosted by Geoscience BC
Place: Geoscience BC, Suite 440, 890 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6C 1J9
Geoscience BC has traditionally supported WIM by hosting a networking lunch at their office and we enjoyed their hospitality once again this June. Geoscience BC kindly provided a fruit and cheese platter for this event.

During this networking lunch, WIM’s Run for the Cure campaign was launched.

May 11, 2010 Women in Mining Forum & Reception 
There was not a Brown Bag lunch in May, since it was BC Mining Week and we were organizing “Women in Mining Forum & Reception”. This year in conjunction to with Mining Week, the Annual CIM Conference is being held in Vancouver and WIM are involved with it. The Forum is a wonderful opportunity to hear about the history of Women in Mining and about the experiences of women working in the industry.

March 7-10, 2010 PDAC - Women in Mining Canada
WIM Vancouver was represented at the 3rd annual Women in Mining International Networking Reception. This interactive event is a platform to learn from your peers, share knowledge and experiences, build relationships and create new business contacts.

February 11, 2010
Presenter: Courtney Daws, Program Director, “Combining Our Strength™ initiative” The Minerva Foundation.
Event Summary: It’s time for WIM to start connecting with other organizations that inspire women to built stronger communities! Courtney Daws will speak about The Minerva Foundation and the initiative she leads.
 
January 14, 2010
Presenter: Marilyn Lanz from UFCW
Event Summary: A career in trades is an option for women in the mining and mineral exploration industries, Marilyn will talk about a training program specifically made for “Women in Trades”. She will also talk about her experience as a high pressure welder at Dennison Mines, Ontario.
Roundup: Sahar Pakzad will cover final details for the WIM Round-up booth and volunteers. If you are volunteering, please attend this session.
 
January 18-21, 2010 Mineral Exploration Roundup (AME BC)
Women in Mining had a booth during the conference, participating at this event allowed us to reach a diverse audience and inform the public about what we do. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped during this event!
