Geology and Geomorphology of the Sea to Sky Corridor
Friday, January 28
This one day fieldtrip will explore the complex geomorphology and geology of the Sea to Sky corridor. Various large and small scale events that shaped the corridor over the past few years to last 10,000 years will be discussed throughout a number of road side stops. We’ll discuss the cause and effect of past glacial activity, recent landsides, and evidence of volcanic activity. Planned stops include a geology stop at the Britannia Mine Museum and a visit to the Britannia Water Treatment Plant.
This field trip will depart the Westin Bayshore at 8:00 am. The estimated return time is 6:00 pm.
A Tour of Porphyry Projects - SOLD OUT
Thursday, January 27 - Saturday, January 29
This trip featuring BC porphyry projects will depart from The Westin Bayshore on the afternoon of Thursday, January 27 and will return in the evening of Saturday, January 29. This trip features tours of the Highland Valley Copper Mine (Canada's largest copper mining /concentrating operation), Copper Mountain project, and KGHM-Ajax’s Afton-Ajax project. Both nights will be spent in Kamloops.
This field trip will depart the Westin Bayshore at 3:00 pm, and the estimated return time is 6:00 pm.
